Happy Month of LOVE!

This week was rough on me, so I made a LOT of homemade recipes that were all pretty delicious. I recommend you make this delicious stuffed shell recipe!

I went to HEB this week, but the bulk of my trip consisted of apples, onions and lots of green things, about $40 worth. That makes for a pretty boring picture and write up, but I don’t want you to assume we sustain our healthy lifestyle with yogurt, pizza and fruity pebbles.

My sister text messaged me on Monday that Kroger was having their Buy 10 get $5 off sale, knowing full well I don’t particulalry like shopping there anymore… she apparently does not care about my feelings. Well, Kroger has Swanson Broth priced at $0.29 after the $0.50 discount, so her dis-concern was worth it… I pretty much dropped everything and ran to the Kroger to see it for myself and sure enough, there were pallets lined up, ready for the taking. Tis the season for donations, so I will be heading back to use my $0.40/5 Swanson broth coupons to donate to our local fire department.

It has been an exhausting week of running, running, sleeping, and more running. I can’t wait for next weekend to get here, Chicago bound for my third 1/2 marathon with B, C and by running buddy Mike. I am going to hit up Randall’s today [they are having a big Friday sale]; I was going to go this morning, but C woke up at the booty crack because she thought there was a war waging outside her window… it was the lawn mower.

Yesterday, I took C to the dermatologist for a mollusk on her leg, the doctor wrote us a prescription for a steroid creme that cost $682.99… ::gasp:: Luckily, she gave us a card to get the prescrition FREE.

This week has flown by super fast, we have been busy watering the grass so it doesn’t die in the Texas heat and I have been training for my upcoming 1/2 marathons in Chicago and San Antonio. Last, but not least, I got anxiety over shopping this week, no joke. I printed out the B1G1 Whonu Cookies and stacked it with the $1.00/1 and my $1.00 Catalina from Kroger, ready to go… I didn’t go, I was too nervous that they would call the police for stacking coupons correctly. I fought with myself the whole way to do my Randall’s trip and then leaving to pass the exit to Kroger, I just don’t feel comfortable there anymore. Does anybody else have this anxiety I speak about? Do you think I should call to action a Kroger Anxiety group so we can help each other deal with the stress they put on their [once] loyal consumers?! Why Kroger, WHY?

Credit at Kroger

I won’t lie, I love when Kroger sends me coupons in the mail to try and retain my business… sometimes it works, like when there is a FREE Doritos or FREE Gatorade coupon – who could really pass these up?

Yesterday was pretty awesome when I went to peruse the mail, I thought they were classing it up sending me coupons in a windowed envelope.

I was wrong.

It was this lovely letter from Kroger Personal Finance. WHAT?! I did not know that I could count on Kroger SO much as to be my personal finance platform… You have to be kidding, right?

I really like the “Pay No Interest: Enjoy 1.99% introductory APR…” That’s not “No Interest”, is it now? After the introductory period you will pay 21.99% interest on groceries and gas, items that should be in the cash budget already? Oh, but you get bonus rewards for purchasing Kroger brand products and a $25 Kroger coupon after your first card usage. Can you imagine purchasing you PoP-Tarts and Milk on your Kroger card and letting it sit around until you ended up paying $20 for them… No, don’t imgaine it!

I thought you knew me, Kroger? I thought we were tight. We’re just acquaintances, as it appears.

B and I have one credit card each, they have been open since we were in high school and are only used in emergency occasions like a car blow up costing $2,000 [Which was quickly paid off from the good 'ol savings account... who carries $2,000 cash?!] We both work hard for our money, we budget and we tell our money where to go - we are both in communication about our financial goals and we are [somewhat] responsible spenders, you gotta live a little!

So, no, Kroger, I will not be jumping on your incredible deal by 8/31/2011, and no, I will not start shopping more at your store either. Has anybody else realized how inexpensive Randall’s has become since the whole downfall realignment of Kroger? Is it just me?
