Good Gravy, I wish I had saved C’s jean donation for this!

    Copied from DoSomething.org

Welcome to the 4th Annual Teens for Jeans drive, empowering YOU to take action on youth homelessness.

Drop off your gently worn jeans to any Aéropostale store between January 17th and February 13th and we’ll get them to a local homeless shelter or charity.

As a thanks, you’ll get an additional 25% off your next pair of Aero jeans.

Your school could win $5000 and a party if you collect the most jeans. Sign up, start your drive now and find out how you can win.

You know there has to be at least one pair of unworn jeans in that closet of theirs because they don’t fit right or they aren’t the right color.

What a great way for us to encourage our [pre]teens to do something nice for other teens in need!

PS. Feel free to send me a message or comment if you have jeans you would like to give to the cause, I will be more than happy to pick them up (unless, of course, you are in Minnesota… I’ll send you my address for shipping).

    Happy New Year Friends!

We are so excited to start this new year’s journey and see what God has planned for us!

We pray you have continued health and prosperity along with many frugal finds to subsidize the future.

    Isn’t today just amazing outside?

B and D are out playing in the yard and I am working on my etsy project and cooking a roast for this evening. C is most likely out with her mom or best girlfriend having fun and making it a wonderful January 1st, 2011.

    Happy New Year!

Christmas holds some of my most favorite things, one of them are our ornaments. I just love when we pull them out every year and I get to look at them sparkle on the tree, just like they are brand new or just freshly made. Here are some of my most favorites:

We just had to have this bird, C and I admired the fancy one my uncle had on his tree and decided ours was not complete without one as well… and they are just silly.

I love this one, it is B and my “First” Christmas ornament, although we had spent three Christmas’s together since we met, 2008 was our first official Christmas together as Husband and Wife,  and ’til death do us part.

I love how this red glittery star with silver bell sparkles in the lights on the tree. When I look at it, I want to sing (to whomever is around), “Darling you are my shining star, yes you are…”

This one is for C, I love it. She is SO great on her saxophone that I couldn’t resist getting it for her. Her and B debate on whether the treble clef or bass clef is better. I stay out of it since I was in choir and used the treble clef (see Red Glitter Star above). I will put in that the treble clef is much prettier, don’t you agree?

This is our shooting star – go ahead, you can make a wish! – it is white an glittery and hangs on a branch that is perfect to hang since it is almost 9″ long. If we turn on the fan it starts to twist and you can see the glitter lights come to life, it is so fun!

Rudolph! How did this guy get to be last on the list of many? C made this bad boy a few years ago and I love it. This year he is chilling on a branch just below eye level and he is quite the catch. His nose is a sparkly red pom pom and he totes a green bell around his neck, what Christmas tree is complete without a Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer?

    Merry Christmas!

    POLO!

Here I am friends! I haven’t post since FRIDAY, Holy Sha-miley!

DH took our GOOD computer to get some files reloaded so he can work more efficiently in his CAD program, so my new beloved has been absent since two Friday’s ago. (It makes posting to the blog SO much easier, thank you HP for this! Dell, you copy cats, think of something with your own R&D.)

This weekend was so much fun with our girlie. We went to an outdoor concert on Friday, had ice cream, sweet tea and listened to some great music. Saturday we had volleyball and birthday/football watching to attend to. BOOMER SOONER – for all you T-sip fans, it’s Tuesday and TU still stinks. Sunday was exactly what God had planned, no work and all play (sometimes play = relaxation). So, I didn’t even think about you guys too much this weekend, you understand, right?

Monday rolled around and Comcast decided to wreak havoc on the whole neighborhood. No Internet alllll day, but my front flower beds are sure looking nice!

Now it’s Tuesday and I’m in love. I hope to have some great eBook and deal posts for you in a bit.

We had such a great weekend! We had our annual (immediate) family reunion in New Braunfels, Tx at Schlitterbahn.

Our girls had a lot of fun, here is a before (mid-morning) shot:

And here is their after shot:

The water was SO cold, but that was to be expected. We rode almost every ride once, we did not make it to the original three tube shoots for fear of hypothermia; nobody likes blue lips and black toes.

All in all it was another successful year at the Bahn and we are already planning our trip for next year.

Today is my sweet sweet girl’s first day of 6th grade!

We only knew her homeroom teacher going into this morning, I hope she comes home with a great report on how happy she is with her new friends and new beginnings.

She is really excited about playing the saxophone this year. We are praying for a fantastic year!

Our family would like to lead a legacy, one of charity and perseverance.

DD and my favorite verse is,
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

With Christ, we can persevere through anything. We are on a rocky road right now with one gigantic issue, but it is nothing the Lord cannot handle. Therefore, we have turned it over to Him and continue to persevere.

When it comes to charitable giving, our family is on the right track. But, when it comes to charitable volunteering, we fall short. We have not gone, as a family, to work on behalf of a charitable organization in quite some time. Personally, I give to charity A LOT with all of the running I participate in, but that is not the type of legacy builder we need.

Disney has made a fantastic outreach starting January 1, 2010. The program is called “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” In which you pledge, and WORK, one day at a charitable organization from their list and they will give you a free day to any Disney Park.

Remember when I told you all about our trip in March 2010? Well, I will be getting the WHOLE family together so we can enjoy a free day during our Spring Break trip next year, and starting the progression of a new legacy.
