Dear HEB,

This week, you rock my socks because I purchased That Green Sauce at Hatch week and… I… Am… Loving… It!

That Green Sauce - HEB

It is not for the faint of heart though, a delicious combo of jalapeno and poblano peppers, is of medium heat and gives a sweet kick to begin and a savory spicy punch at the end.

It was a struggle of a purchase, at $4.00 for an 11 oz jar, it wasn’t exactly cheap. However, the many uses and small amounts needed to satisfy my taste buds are worth every penny! I used one teaspoon to top each of our stuffed peppers two nights ago, two tablespoons for dipping Chees-Its [yum!], and for lunch, today, I drizzled one teaspoon to my cheese pizza.

Is your mouth watering yet? I know mine is!

You can find this delicious sauce on the chip aisle year round or with the Hatch presentations going on now at your local HEBs.

PS. Thanks, HEB, for the warning label on the back, which I did not read until half of the jar was gone. It reads: WARNING: Can be addictive! Pour it on tacos, eggs fajitas or just use it as a salsita (dip) with chips… again and again.

Breakfast of Champions

Welcome Champ,  our United States athletes are doing pretty awesome in the Olympics this far, right? I am amazed at the sheer talent each competitor has, they are inspiring!

This week I am making breakfast ahead because it is sure to be one of “those weeks”, being it is the first of the month, beginning of a new quarter, and accruals are due. That’s right, I went there, big working-girl talk. Eggs and English muffins always make me happy, and since the Olympics are being held in London this year, it seems fitting to share my quick and healthy breakfast recipe utilizing English Muffins. Do you know the Muffin Man?

Breakfast Tools

What you need now:

Eggs [I prefer Eggland's Best brown eggs, they have a better tasting yolk]

Spinach

Salt/Pepper to taste

What you need later:

English Muffins

Cheese [optional]

Bacon [optional]

Zaycon Bulk Meat Events

Time for another round of top quality meats in our area by Zaycon Foods, have you tried them out yet? If not, you should definitely call your friends to see if they want to go in with you, you will not be sorry. I hit them up for their boneless whole chicken breasts in November 2010 and let me tell you, I was shocked, surprised and SUPER happy with my decision to give them a try!

The Zaycon team is so efficient, you don’t even have to get out of you car or truck to pick up your purchases, they walk up with your order, put it where you ask and off you go to seal seal seal.

This round they are packing up the 93/7 super lean ground beef and heading our way on August 4.

Saturday, August 4 [Orders must be placed by 7/29/12, or until SOLD OUT]

  • LFTB Free
  • Comes in a 40-lb case with four 10-lb chubs per case (approximate weight–see note below)
  • No chemicals, additives or water added to meat during processing
  • Processed at a USDA-inspected, state-of-the-art plant employing strict operating protocols (including HACCP) and the highest in food-safety standards
  • Prior to processing, inspectors from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service randomly sample cattle under a monitoring plan and perform testing for antibiotic residues
  • USDA nutrition labeling standards defines “extra lean” and “lean” ground beef based on the lean/fat ratio. While not part of these guidelines, the term “super lean” is often used in the grocery sector to describe ground beef at the upper end of the “lean” category (i.e., “Zaycon Foods 93/7 Super Lean Ground Beef”). This ground beef product is 93% lean and 7% fat

Time for another round in our area by Zaycon Foods, have you tried them out yet? If not, you should definitely call your friends to see if they want to go in with you, you will not be sorry!

I hit them up for 40 pounds whole chicken breasts when they were here in November and let me tell you, I was shocked, surprised and SUPER happy with my decision to give them a try. I shared the cost of the chicken with my Mom, so the price tag wasn’t too killer with someone to go in half… I think having 20# of chicken is quite enough for a family of 2.5. The boneless skinless chicken breasts are 100% natural and come from local southern and midwest states; they are cleaned up and placed in several unsealed bags, which once reaching 40# they are placed in one gigantic sealed bag and loaded up in super heavy duty cardboard boxes.

I have never purchased the fish or shrimp, so I cannot give a shout out to any of these products. However, I was watching Giada at Home a while back and watched her make this recipe and made me seriously consider putting in an order!

The Zaycon team is so efficient, you don’t even have to get out of you car or truck to pick up your purchases, they walk up with your order, put it where you ask and off you go to seal seal seal.

Saturday, June 23 [Orders must be placed by 6/18/12, Chicken SELLS OUT quick]

  • Chicken Breasts $1.79/lb [40# units] Fresh Boneless Skinless
  • Frozen Alaskan True Cod Fillets $5.29/lb [20# units]
  • White Shrimp $6.39/lb [20# units] Cook, Peeled & Deveined. (31/40 count per pound)

Zaycon Bulk Meat Events

Time for another round in our area by Zaycon Foods, have you tried them out yet? If not, you should definitely call your friends to see if they want to go in with you, you will not be sorry!

I hit them up for 30 pounds of the hickory smoked bacon when they were here in January and let me tell you, I was shocked, surprised and SUPER happy with my decision to try out another one of their fantastic meat selections. I shared the cost of the bacon with my Mom and two other people from my couponing board on Facebook, so the price tag wasn’t too killer with people to split the pot… I think having 30# of bacon is great, but is a bit much for a family of 2.5. The bacon is natural and comes from local southern and midwest states; they are hickory smoked, medium sliced and sealed into four packages of 7.5 pounds each. Don’t be concerned when the strong men and women load your car with two boxes of bacon, they are 15 pounds each, perfect for taking to your friends house for easy sharing… or not ;)

I have never purchased the fish or shrimp, so I cannot give a shout out to any of these products. However, I was watching Giada at Home the other day and watched her make this recipe and made me seriously consider putting in an order!

St. Patrick's Day Crescent Cinnamon Rolls

I was on Pinterest [it's kind of like "What had happened was..." of the blogger/crafter world].

I was on Pinterest and saw a yummy picture of crescent cinnamon rolls, however, it was not linked to the recipe so I did some digging around the interwebs and found it here and repinned it for future use… today!

As you can see, I added 1-2 tablespoons of green powder tint to the icing to make it extra special for St. Patrick’s Day. I also used salted butter and reduced fat crescents, you have to give a little and take a little ;)

C loved them, I believe she would have scooped all 8 crescents up if we had left the kitchen for even a second after they were ready to eat. If she loves something, you know it’s good!

I hope you are having and EXTRA lucky day today! Happy St. Patrick’s Day from the H Family!
