This week was pretty expensive but we still managed to keep it as frugal as possible. We used a lot of stock pile goods last week before we headed out for Chicago, so this week we needed to load back up on the items we killed before the trip. Also, Walgreen’s had a decent sale on items that we are brand loyal [we don't do stinky pits around here], so I hit up that sale which most definately incresed our out of pocket expenses. I spent a total of $138.27 at Randall’s. Walgreen’s, CVS, Target and PetSmart.

 RnR Chicago Finisher

We made it!

Our race in Chicago was truly amazing; not including the “wave start” and the GPS issues, the run was a success.

We woke up bright and early at 5am on Sunday and were out the door by 5:30 to make our way to warm up and the start line. Here are my running buddy and me at 5:30, if the picture were any closer you could see my baggy eyes… I believe I stayed up a little too late with C watching Seventeen Again, HaH!

Rock N Roll Chicago Or Bust

It’s finally here - the Rock N Roll Chicago 1/2 Marathon! Please keep Mike and me in your prayers as we take it to the streets on Sunday at 6:30am.

B lived in Chicago for a year when C was younger, so we are going to be able to meet up with old friends and enjoy the scenery. I also get to meet one of my co-workers who lives just a mile from our hotel – working from home with people all over this great country has it’s perks, but I only know what 5 people actually look like in person.

Keep your eyes peeled for #15047, I Run Like A Mother.

A sniper got me this morning.

There I was, minding my business at 5:30am, jogging along to Toby Mac and Group 1 Crew. Then the sidewalk jumped up, out of nowhere, and tackled me to the ground. I got a nice big scrape on my left knee that just keeps oozing and my palms are really tender. I had a really tough time finding my water bottle [I tossed it to be able to catch myself] because it was still dark out and I was underneath trees that blocked the street lights. I was at Mile 1 of 5.5.

Sniper Knee

I ended up completing the 5.5 miles in 1:05, 10 minutes more than I would like. I think I will take it easy on Thursday with a quick 2 miler; I’m not going to take the chance of the sniper getting me again before we head out on Friday for the Rock ‘N Roll Chicago 1/2 Marathon.

For those of you who complain that runners need to keep it on the sidewalks, this is precisely why we try to stay off of them. They are tilted for water run-off and are sometimes very uneven from one pad to the next. Even when you pay $900 in neighborhood fees per year, the sidewalks are never perfect and will catch you when you least expect it.

PS – Keep your eyes peeled for #15047 this weekend, I Run Like A Mother.
