Where is my hairbrush?

When you least expect it… Like when you are drying you hair!?

I just got my hair cut today and I need to embellish the look… it is kind of flat at the moment.

Ugh - of to Target I go to purchase a new hairbrush. I bet they aren’t on sale.

P.S. They weren’t…

Day Moon

There is something magical about seeing the moon in the day time.

It’s like God’s eye, reminding you that He is here and that He is watching, making sure we are safe.

Thanks God, I needed it today!

If you have a minute, would you please pray for my Dad? He is currently working in Columbia to fix a computer for a crane company. It turns out that he can’t start the job when the machine doesn’t work [DuH] and he can’t get his personal computer to work on the electricity converter. He misses my mom, his personal space… and English ;)

How can I pray for you today?

B and I had a wonderful weekend, outside of missing our girl on vacation in Colorado and dealing with a rat. Ok, not really a rat, but our sweetest girl needed a baby sitter for her guinea pig during vacation, and this mom will do anything for her girl… pretty much.

It was exhausting, but we did exactly what we had intended to do, like:

Relax after a long hard week [it needs documenting that we actually got out of the house, LoL]

Listen to good music [Thanks, Buck Yeager!]

Buck Yeager

Even D had a great weekend, can’t you tell?

 Here’s to great weekends!

PS. Buck Yeager Band [and the H fam] will be at Lone Star Ice House [10801 Spring Cypress Rd] on Friday, July 22. Be there, or be square ;)

The Great RecoveryMy homeboy, Dave Ramsey, is stirring up emotions again… Sweet! You may not know this, but I finished up my college career working with clients on the Dave Ramsey program with Aggie Green, former Investment and Insurance ELP in Houston. It was so much fun to see people work out a budget, stick to it and become debt free, these client’s were like family and I truly enjoyed being able to help them start their financial legacy.

On July 21 at 7pm, he will be live-streaming The Great Recovery here, it is sure to knock your socks off. The call of action is to turn our financial economy around through one family, one church, one community at a time; we can no longer rely on the government to do the right thing when it comes to our Founding Father’s original plan for prosperity of this Great Nation.

I encourage you to register for the live stream to secure a spot in the stream, there will be a replay available an hour after broadcast.

Want to find out more about the movement and get inspired? Of course you do! Check out The Great Recovery, listen to testimonies of supporting pastors and read stories of inspiration from top leaders in the Christian community.

Our Great Nation is in desperate need of prayer, please let us know how we can pray for you today! All things are possible through God, He is our strength!

So, I’ve been posting about my frugal shopping weeks for a while now and it has been fun… but I do not think it will be as fun as my next feature. I want to see your FRUGAL FINDS as well!

This week I trucked it to Randall’s, Walgreens, PetSmart and CVS and spent $37.15 [only $14.07 from my pocket, however].

See, what had happened was… I went shopping on Sunday after beating the crowds away at Pier 1, Old Navy, Home Goods and Bath and Body Works – by the time I got to the grocery store, I was pooped. Transplant Plumeria

I received a white Plumeria from this lady, who rocks. She let me know that if I didn’t transplant it to a bigger container soon she might beat me with a wooden spoon. Nice Lady? You bet!

This is how my Hot Lips Salvia and Impatiens have grown so big and strong since we planted them in the spring. An egg.

I have heard that there are many skeptics to the power of the EGG.

In my family, we do experiments. Why? Because we grew up with our Mom as a science teacher and it is just how we roll. If C ever does another science fair I will try to convince her to do this experiment rather than the effect of music on plant growth [that really happened]. Let me just show you what I know to be the difference:

Who has the egg?

You see these two VERY different groups of baby plumerias? One is with egg and one is without, can you guess which is which?

With/Without Egg

The plumerias without eggs are so puny compared to the suped-up egg plumerias. There is SUCH a big difference, I can’t believe there a nay-sayers.

Anyways, back to my plumeria, here she is but I don’t know why she insists on being crooked… I guess it’s the cool thing to do now.

My First Plumeria

This guy helped with the picture taking, as you may be able to tell. I’m allergic to stinkin’ cats and their stinkin’ dander, however, they are so cute and want me to pet them all the time. So I just talk to them like the crazy cat lady when they do come around.

Picture Helper

Do you have any interesting gardening tips that you though would never work? Have you tried the whole egg under the roots thing? I would love to hear from you about any and all gardening trials and tribulations… My thumb is slowly turning from black to green, YAY!

Caramel Chicken

Dark brown sugar makes me happy, how about you? Tonight I want to share with you one of my favorite recipes – Caramel Chicken. Really, caramel anything makes me happy.

I posted on my Facebook page [which you "Like", right?] that one of my friends offered up her green tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumbers before heading out for vacation this week – this dish makes for easy incorporation of fresh veggies… perfect!

You will need:

Cucumber, julienned
Red Onion, sliced
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
Salt and Pepper, to taste

Short grain rice [Sushi rice]

1 pound chicken breast, cubed [pork will work too!]
1 onion, chopped
1 cup green bell peppers
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 can anchovy fillets, chopped/minced [I keep the juice for extra flavor]
1 teaspoon ground ginger
3-4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
